1986 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser “Fireball XL5″
So, it went kind of like this: a friend of mine won a car from a radio station. It was an Oldsmobile station wagon, painted pink and mocked up to look like a pig. For some reason, he didn’t want it. So he gave it to me. I drove it back to Texas from St. Louis, piggy paint and all, and proceeded to cover the whole thing in (you guessed it) spray paint. It was a good flame job, and the Olds was a decent runner as well. I didn’t need it, strictly speaking, since I already had a Volvo 740 wagon and a Grand Marquis, as well as assorted other vehicles at that point, but it was a fun thing to have.
I sold it to a friend, because at that point the fleet was too big and Fireball spent more time sitting than being driven–between my press cars and the four other running vehicles I had at the time, there just wasn’t any point! To the best of my knowledge, the beast is still in the D.C. area.
