Lovely review. I couldn’t even begin to describe City Club like that to friends in the West Michigan goth scene unfamiliar with it. I do love the atmosphere and near-universal acceptance of all who go there. Helps that they really don’t advertise City Club within Detroit’s mainstream media outlets and it’s entrance is unmarked. It really works to prevent assholes from getting in…though I still wonder how some of these homeless looking dudes manage to get in at 3 or 4 in the morning without being seen…ghosts on the dance floor perhaps?

Great description of City Club! I can’t believe the railings are gone… those were helpful even entering the club in heels!
