Thanks for the info, I was all ready to sign up for a Verizon air card but after reading this story and the other response, I will take my business elsewhere.

I also got a Verizon aircard with the 5mb allowance. I'm afraid to say that my horror story is worse than yours. It started out that I had two months of going over usage where I was charged 200$, which I found outrageous but paid it and vowed to be more careful next month (especially since it is SO easy to go over the amount allotted) and held my bill steady at a more than I would like to spend but manageable price. However this march I received a bill of over $3,000 dollars for one month of internet bills. After making numerous trips to the store to try to figure out what could possibly have caused this and how to deal with it and they told me they couldn't help and to call customer service. of course, after talking to 5 different people on five different occasions each of which told me they would investigate and get back to me, I never heard back from any of them. and each time i tried to call any of them back they weren't at their desk and never returned my phone calls. now not only are they still trying to get me to pay it, not letting me out of my contract but they are also charging me a late fee- and the only reason it hasn't been dealt with is that over a month not a single one of their employees has taken any responsibility and returned a call. Finally the "straight" answer I got form one of them was that as a "courtesy" to me they had limited the overage fees to $190 the first times I went over but that this month I was being charged the usual overage rates. The fact this company thinks it is reasonable to EVER charge over $3000 for one month is absolutely obscene and completely outrageous. Their business practices are shameless and filled with dirty tricks and incompetent employees. Highway Robbery indeed.

I've been really happy with Sprint's EVDO service, from a reliability, coverage and speed standpoint. I don't really know anything about it from a customer service and billing standpoint however since it's a work thing paid for by a client. It runs around 60 bucks for 5gigs a month, then 5 cents a meg for overages like you said so it sounds like that'd be pretty much what you have, with less crazy overage fees.
